Prior to Mr Blakelock's current appointment he was headteacher at Trinity Church of England Primary School and a senior leader at Bishop Justus Church of England School. The focus of his work has always been ensuring the child is placed at the centre of provision. Barry believes the best education is an inclusive education - where the diversity of the real world is reflected in every classroom to the benefit of all learners.

Kelly is an experienced leader in Primary Education, having worked in a variety of leadership roles throughout her career. Kelly has previously held the roles of EYFS, KS1 leader and Deputy Headteacher. Kelly has also lectured at a local university on the initial teacher training programmes and has for many years been on their interview panel for new undergraduates and post graduate trainee teachers as part of her lead mentor role. Kelly firmly believes that we need to educate the “whole child and that the child should be at the centre of everything we do.” She believes that “all children need equal access to opportunities and an education which prepares them for life and lifelong learning”.
Vicky qualified as a Teacher in Wales in 2007 specialising in Early Years. She joined Rye Primary as Early Years Lead in 2014 and leads the school Village Project. Vicky teaches in Minnows class and spends regular time within Pugwash. Vicky holds a pediatric first aid certificate, an NPQML in leadership, is one of the school's DSL's and a subject leader for Music and RSHE throughout the school. Vicky oversees the teaching and learning within Pugwash and both Reception classes.
Nursery Supervisor and SENDCO & Safeguarding Lead (Maternity Leave)
Katie has worked at Pugwash since 2009 and is the Nursery Manager. Katie is responsible for the day to day running of the of the Nursery. Katie has a Foundation Degree in Early Years Education and Play Work and an NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care Learning and Development. Katie leads on our provision for children in receipt of Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) and as Nursery SENDco leads on provision for children with additional needs. Katie is pediatric first aid trained and holds a certificate in food hygiene. Katie is the Nursery Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Senior Nursery Practitioner
Fran has worked at Pugwash Nursery since 2003. Fran is a Senior Practitioner and is acting Nursery Manager in Katie's absence. Fran is also a Designated Safeguarding Lead, key person and health and safety coordinator. She qualified in 2008 with an NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education. Fran's area of interest is Maths. Fran has also completed a Makaton training programme. Fran is pediatric first aid trained and holds a food hygiene certificate.
Katie has worked at Pugwash since 2002. She is an experienced practitioner working as a Key Person. She qualified in 2002 with a BTEC National Diploma in Early Years. Katie has an interest for developing early literacy; focusing on 'phase one' phonics. Katie leads on the "Write Stuff" emergent writing approach in Pugwash. Katie has also completed a Makaton training programme. Katie is pediatric first aid trained and holds a food hygiene certificate.
Sophie has been with Pugwash since 2016. Sophie completed her NVQ Level 3 training here with us in 2019. Sophie is a Key Person and has a passion for music and movement. Sophie runs Balancability sessions, as well as being a Level 3 Forest School Leader. Sophie enjoys taking the Nursery and Reception children into our Forest School as regularly as possible. Sophie holds pediatric first aid, outdoor first aid and food hygiene certificates.
Lena started with us in 2018 and has many years of experience working in childcare. Lena holds an NVQ Level 3. Lena is using her recent training to lead our provision for children's mental health as well as completing her SENDco training. Lena holds pediatric first aid and food hygiene certificates. Lena particularly enjoys working with families and wholeheartedly believes that a strong home/school partnership leads to success.
Kat joined Pugwash in 2017, initially working as bank staff, but we were delighted when she was able to join us full time. Kat holds a Level 3 NVQ, pediatric first aid and food hygiene certificates. Kat leads on the planning and provision of the "Talk for Writing" programme in the nursery and has a passion for arts and crafts and creating artwork with the children.
