Learning activities Term 1

Our topic this term is ‘Where in the world is Rye?" As you can imagine, it has a strong Geography focus. The children will be learning about the European continent. They will do a country study and compare Rye with a different European town, looking at physical and human geographical features.

Our main texts this term are ‘The house of the Cats: and other tales from Europe' and 'The Hunter' by Paul Geraghty. These books support the work we will do in English, Geography and Science. We will be reading traditional tales from various European countries. We will be writing an alternative version of a traditional tale, a report about a European country and a folk tale.

In science lessons, we will be learning about all living things: nutrition, food chains, skeletons and muscles, with a particular focus on animals we find in Europe.

More details about the learning focus in this term will be posted in the newsletter.
