Parents should only send their child to school if there is no safe alternative. This is the first principle of the government guidance. Provision in school is the last resort.
What is the offer?
Schools are being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children who are vulnerable and those whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.
Vulnerable children include children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children, young carers, disabled children and those with education, health and care (EHC) plans. Where a child can be safely looked-after in the family home, then this should be the first option.
We offer Key Worker Childcare, Monday to Friday, if we are needed.
- Key Worker Childcare is offered through Rye Community Primary School;
- We are offer a range of activities including supervised remote study;
- We offer nursery, primary and secondary provision from 8.30am to 3.30pm;
- Children can be picked up or dropped-off at midday;
- Unless in receipt of free school meals, you should provide your child with a lunch;
- A lunch at school can be offered, speak to us about this option;
- Parents are reminded to put suncream on their child before they come to school and to send sun cream and water into school with their child;
- Your child may wear their own clothes.
If you are a key worker and cannot keep your child safe at home then you will be prioritised for key worker childcare. Check the list of identified roles before contacting us and ensure you are eligible.
Be reminded, this provision is a last resort. We may ask for proof of the number of adults in your household and confirmation of your employment.
