Last Friday, Year 6 visited the historical location of the Mary Stanford Lifeboat and the RNLI offices in Rye Harbour. Whilst there, the children were fortunate enough to have a look at and work with the current members of the RNLI. They explored the equipment they use today compared to the time of the Mary Stanford, as well as learnt what different coloured flags mean whilst out at sea. They also found out what everyday life is like as a member of the RNLI.
The children also sketched what they could see whilst at the new RNLI hut, as well as painted a variety of different landscapes from this location.
Everyone in Year 6, would like to thank the parent helpers and the RNLI for their support during this trip, helping them to learn and enjoy their experience in the harbour and remember the brave Mary Stanford crew members who sacrificed themselves all those years ago.
