Today Year 2, 3 and 4 were very excited to visit the Bridge Point centre in Rye. Even though it was a rainy day, children and staff braved the weather and went on a walk to view the incredible Tapestry work on show. The Hastings Embroidery has been brought out of storage after 50 years and exhibited at Bridgepoint. The panels represent 900 years of history from 1066-1966 and were absolutely beautiful. The children were truly amazed at the images created and listened intently to the lecturers discussing key pieces of work on The Great Fire of London, The Plague, Henry VIII and his six wives and World War I and II, plus many other key moments over the last 900 years.

Next week, the children can also participate in an exciting art competition to design a new panel! This can be based on any key historical event since 1966 with the winner receiving £500 for the art department in school. The deadline Friday 11 October 2019. Watch this space for further details.
